For the "Horse of a Different Color" senior thesis project, Griffin created costumes while exploring the concept of persona and the multitudes that we all carry in our personalities. This project took on a very personal nature for Griffin. Though he enjoyed the investigation and the process, it forced him to reflect and has helped him to mourn the passing of his grandmother. Watching movies, reading books, listening to music, and taking in art are ways in which we recontextualize ourselves. Thus far, Griffin's work has dealt with the feeling of being overwhelmed by the constant stream of media society consumes every day. Griffin's constructed pieces are based on these feelings and he used discarded and found materials while incorporating unusual silhouettes. Through the distilling of tropes often seen in fairy tales, Griffin has written a story for his characters to live inside of; it is a campy, weird, fantastical world that is a commentary on the “play” we all participate in daily, Life.
